A 15th century Wine Cellar

When the restoration of the old Bombas Gens factory took place, the remains of an old farmhouse were discovered at the back of the site. The farmhouse, known as Casa Comeig, was part of the scattered hamlet of the old Marxalenes road, inserted in a centuries-old landscape of orchards, on the peripheries of Valencia and which, with little change, remained until the 20th century. In the same context of rural buildings, in the nearby Marxalenes Park, some examples can still be seen today, such as the Félix farmhouse or the Barrinto farmhouse, very similar to what this house must have been.
The Bombas Gens farmhouse was a large building that began to be built at the end of the 14th century and experienced a period of splendour after the complete renovation between the end of the 15th and the beginning of the 16th centuries. It was then equipped with sumptuary elements such as Maniser-style counters, many of which were recovered during the archaeological excavation in the summer of 2016. However, the most remarkable feature of the house is the underground cellar, which was built during the same restoration and has been completely preserved, with various restored original objects and utensils, complemented by the construction of a room designed by Ramón Esteve Arquitectura y Diseño to protect the archaeological remains and display the various elements found during the archaeological excavations.
